It’s official. After years of speculation, Ben Affleck has seemingly confirmed he will not be returning to the role of Bruce Wayne for Matt Reeves’ 2021 The Batman. This news comes shortly after a release date for the film was announced.

Affleck’s Batman made his first appearance in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, followed by a cameo in Suicide Squad later that year, and his final appearance in 2017’s Justice League. Despite the polarizing nature of the DCEU, fans have almost all agreed that Affleck’s Bruce Wayne was one of the best, if not the best take on the character ever. Affleck confirms his leaving the role with the following tweet:

With this news, the role of Bruce Wayne is open for the taking in 2021’s The Batman. Who do you hope to see take on the mantle of the dark knight? Let us know on Twitter and Instagram!
